in the context of scientific research projects, to take images of myself in which gestures can be recognised, with my cooperation, and to subsequently process the images and the personal data contained therein for scientific work in the context of research projects for the purpose of gesture recognition described in more detail below. Insofar as the image recordings are made and provided by me, the consent refers to the image recordings provided by me. The processing is carried out for the purpose of training and testing artificial intelligence (hereinafter 'AI') methods for gesture recognition, specifically for learning, validating and improving the automatic and computer-aided recognition of gestures for contactless human-machine interaction, among other things, through AI models and for enabling novel applications, among other things, in industrial production, medicine and care. The file names of my image recordings are to be provided with a pseudonym known exclusively to Fraunhofer. The file names are used for the purpose of enabling Fraunhofer to remove my image recordings in accordance with data protection regulations in the event that this declaration of consent is revoked. The consent also covers the use of the image recordings for the above-mentioned purposes by Fraunhofer's cooperation partners in joint research projects; these cooperation partners will be informed that the processing is to be limited to the above-mentioned purposes.
When processing for the aforementioned purposes, biometric data and data relating to health as well as data relating to racial and ethnic origin and religion obtained through the processing of the image recordings may also be processed. This may be necessary, for example, to ensure accurate recognition of gestures for different ethnicities - including on the basis of particular characteristics - and to identify and avoid possible 'discrimination'. The aforementioned data are special categories of personal data within the meaning of Art. 9 (1) of the GDPR. My above consent explicitly refers to this data as well.
